Answers to the questions

1. What was the motivation of the project?

The author focuses his research on the necessity of comparing data about parents who educated their children at home also named “homeschooling” and those who preferred to carry their children to the school, that caused curiosity on him and started to research advantages and disadvantages on both perspectives. This study was based on the education that people received on the XVII and XIX centuries, where children were educated at home for their parents without being teachers. The author mainly highlights the homeschooling of African American people and white people who lived in USA, but they were not Americans and educated their children on this way.
The main idea is to investigate the importance in the learning process of students at home, and how is the learning process and their academic performance, as well as the emotional and psychological cognitive development, as well as the interaction with their parents or people greater.  The project encompasses a generalization in the investigative study of families and the results of these studies all validated with a series of tests.

2. What are the key research questions and how where they investigated?

The research questions start on the project with what, then are the learner outcomes related to this form of homeschooling that is often not at all regulated by the state? Continues the research with: What about socialization? if we consider the development, social, psychological or emotional for a long time. In various studies that represent different constructions as well as psychological measures. Another serious question: are home schooled children acquiring the skills, patterns of behavior, values and motivations?  do they need to function competently as members of society?  And ends with: Why do the parents homeschool their children? Why is homeschooling not supported by education system? All of these questions were investigated based on data and statistics, the author named numerous studies that answered each question with quotes that gave validity and reliability to his answers. It also suggests to us the importance of education and socialization at home and how this reinforcement depends on the future and behavior as experiences through the social process.

3. Is this a quantitative or qualitative research?

We´d say that is a quantitative research due to numerous data that uses the author for proving his research as numbers and statistics that he uses throughout the research. It represents the qualities of the study argument and its objective in itself is to notice or highlight the qualities of the student population, especially of younger ages and represents past characteristics of both students, educational institutions and higher tutors responsible for reinforcing the education of these students, but we also say that is qualitative because there are enough arguments based on quotes of authors that prove researcher’s theory and has open-ended questions.
